Jason de Stefano

I am a writer and teacher living in Berkeley, CA. My essays and scholarship have appeared in Cleveland Review of Books, English Literary History, Modern Language Quarterly, n+1, New Literary History, and elsewhere. My poetry can be found in Bennington Review, Fence, Lana Turner, and Prelude. From 2021 to 2025 I was a Harper-Schmidt Fellow in the Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts at the University of Chicago. I’m currently writing a book, Creatures of Our Own Making, about the intellectual history of creativity since the nineteenth century, which is forthcoming in 2027 from Yale University Press.
